Auri Jackson is a writer-director who likes to tell funny stories about seriously unfunny things to inspire action and offer hope.
A half-hour dramedy TV pilot she co-directed with writer-creator Stevie Wain, Day Jobs, won the Audience Award at the 2022 Austin Film Festival and the 2023 Outfest Film Festival. Her original comedy pilot Barely Managing placed as a Second Rounder in the 2024 Austin Film Festival. In 2020, her narrative short, The Return, premiered at the San Diego Latino Film Festival and screened in the environmental category of the Bozeman International Film Festival. She is a graduate of NYU with a B.F.A. in Film & TV (yes, she’s still in debt) and she won the sole faculty commendation in comedy the year her thesis film, The Spot, debuted at NYU’s First Run Film Festival.
During her seven years at BuzzFeed, she directed and produced over one hundred videos, pioneered viral environmental content on their channels, created multiple successful unscripted series, and gained a deep knowledge of what makes millions of eyes pay attention. She has been featured on Shondaland and Vox about reducing waste and being an everyday environmentalist.
She currently freelances as a director and as a sustainability consultant for A24.
